This is Kangaroo Island like you’ve never seen it before, a breathtaking fusion of wine, food, and flight.   

Departing from Strathalbyn (optional extra at checkout for departure from Hahndorf or Adelaide Airport), your journey begins with lift off over the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula. As your helicopter climbs, take in sweeping views of rolling hills, vineyards, and rugged coastline before crossing the Backstairs Passage - the gateway to Kangaroo Island. From the air, the island unfolds beneath you, revealing its untouched wilderness, rugged cliffs, and endless ocean views.   

Your destination is Dudley Wines, Kangaroo Island’s first commercial winery, proudly family-owned since 1997. Perched on top of a coastal ridge, this hidden gem offers unbeatable views over Backstairs Passage to mainland Australia. Here, you’ll enjoy a wine tasting paddle, sampling Dudley’s handcrafted wines made exclusively from Kangaroo Island fruit.   

Lunch is a relaxed and indulgent affair, with priority seating on the deck to take in the spectacular ocean views. Enjoy a clifftop feast of shared platters and gourmet wood-fired pizzas, crafted with fresh local ingredients and paired with a glass of your favourite Dudley wine.   

After soaking in the island’s best flavours and scenery, it’s time for the return journey. Board your helicopter and take off once more, retracing your flight path with a final aerial tour of Kangaroo Island’s breathtaking coastline before crossing back to the mainland.   

This is more than just a day trip, it’s a chance to experience Kangaroo Island’s world-class wine, stunning landscapes, and coastal charm from a whole new perspective.

Experience Dates: We operate Thursday – Monday every week. 

Flight Route:  Start your journey from Strathalbyn and take a long scenic flight to Kangaroo Island to Dudley Wines and then back to your starting location.  

Pick up / drop off location: South Australian Helicopters (optional extra at checkout for departure from Hahndorf or Adelaide Airport)

Note: Slight variations to the experience may be made dependent on weather.  

What you need to know... 

·      A maximum individual weight of 136kg, maximum combined weight of 3 passengers is 270kg. 

·      We can accommodate groups of 2-6 people. Our R44 seats 3 passengers, so for bookings of 4 or more, we will operate with 2 trips to each location, with 3 passengers on board each flight.

 ·      We fly with the front doors off! Pending the weather, we always fly with our doors off, as we’ve found that the open-air flight adds another level to the experience! If you’d prefer to fly with doors on, please let us know a minimum of 24 hours prior to your departure date. 

·      We are able to provide Adelaide Airport and Hahndorf helicopter transfers, with this being an add on cost at check out for relevant experiences.  

·      We can also provide recommendations for car transfers, as we do not include transfers to the starting location as part of this experience, unless it is selected as an add on option at checkout or you email us to arrange this direct.

·      We are able to provide a custom price for accommodation pick up and drop off for your experience, as well as longer flights or personalised experiences. Please email info@southaustralianhelicopters.com.au
